Using Smart Cameras for the in-home care of elderly and the young

We’ve had feedback from a few customers with interesting uses for their CleverLoop cameras. This has really reinforced how it’s not just your home and your possessions that you can protect with with one of our systems, but perhaps more importantly, your family.

The examples we’ve had are where a Cleverloop security system has been used primarily as part of in-home care, to keep an eye on family members that shouldn’t leave their houses by themselves, rather than people trying to get in.

CleverLoop can be used to look after those who may wander away from a property.

If you have elderly family members, particularly those with dementia and Alzheimer’s, then using cameras can give peace of mind about how they are. A common use is to receive alerts if they start to wander, say leaving the house or the property from the front door or entrance path. A similar use if to look after children who have a tendency to wander off.

Regardless of why you need to keep an eye people leaving your/their home, a few CleverLoop cameras, installed in a few key spots, can give you the peace of mind that you want.

Cameras that cover the major entry and exit points from the house, can both record what is happening, and alert you that someone is moving in those areas. Wherever you are, a quick check of your phone when an alert comes in is all that it takes to know that the movement that was detected is nothing to worry about, or if you need to take steps to keep your family member safe.

For added protection if the person does leave the house, outdoor cameras mounted in locations that view the easy exit points from the property gives you confirmation that the person you are caring for has actually left the property rather than just being in the garden, and it can give you vital information about which way they went if the do wander off.

The other thing to remember is that any cameras set up to keep an eye on a family member is still going to work for security purposes too, it’s just a matter of careful choice of camera placements. A camera watching a front or back door for someone leaving is just as useful for watching for visitors, either wanted or unwanted.

The other benefit of using CleverLoop as part of your in-home care systems is that you can have as many people connected to the cameras, via the free Android or Apple smartphone apps as you need, and it easy to add and remove people as users too. We just suggest that you also consider the privacy of the person you are trying to help in terms of where you place cameras.
